Evaluation of ‘Image Group’ Website
The website I have chose to evaluate is the UK based printing company ‘Image Group UK’. This is how the About Us section of the website describes the company, “As one of the UK’s leading large format printers we’re fast, flexible and competitive and can support your individual needs for brand merchandising, display and retail graphics, site branding and signage, exhibition solutions and promotional indoor or outdoor advertising.” Having considered the services this business provides I feel that the intended users are most definitely business managers, marketing departments and advertisers. This website gives customers an inside view into the company and provides details of available services.
The structure of the website is very professional and well organised with clear menus and headings. The site has a search function which allows users to search the entire website using keywords. This is an advantage to customers as it allows them to search for exactly what they want, which saves the user a lot of time.
Another advantage of the website is the interactive video that appears on screen if selected by the user. This video involves a man walking onto the screen and telling the user about the company and the services it provides. I feel that this video is useful to in-experienced ICT users as they are able to be informed by the video and gain more information about the company.
Another advantage of the website is the contact us page, which provides users with an online form to complete and send in their enquiries to the company. I feel that this is important as many people may not wish to phone the company and may not have the time. This is why having a small online enquiry form is beneficial to all users and also saves staff member’s time as they can reply to enquiries at their own discretion.
Disadvantages of the website include having only some of the products included in the website with the price available. If I was visiting a website and the price was not included this would most probably discourage me from looking further into that company. However, if customers were made clear of all of the prices then they may feel more confident using this company.
The first task I carried out was conducting a search using the search bar. I searched for ‘banner’ and immediately as I began typing I was shown the results below the search bar. I feel that this is very useful and saves users a lot of time. This meant that I could click on ‘Lamppost Banners’ from the results and be navigated to the corresponding page.
The second task was to complete the online customer satisfaction survey, although when I selected the link to the survey I was navigated away from the website and taken to the Farmore website. This task was unsuccessful and shows that the website does include some errors. Overall, I feel that this website is very effective in promoting the services the company provides.
