Micro-Blogging

Micro-Blogging is a web service that provides users with a means of broadcasting short messages to the web. Subscribers can veiw these updates in a variety of ways such as text messages etc. Most blogs are written in text format although some services offer images, videos and even audio files to be uploaded. With a character limit of 140, micro-blogs must be kept concise. Also privacy is often an issue when posting personal blogs.

Twitter and Edmodo provide a free micro-blogging service which allows user to post or “tweet” their opinions publicly. Users can keep up to date on what their friends have been up to and also keep a track of recent posts. These websites can also be searched to find the latest posts on certain subjects or places such as Salford University. Therefore offering a learning resource to users in education.

 Lauren Luke is a woman who found fame by publishing online make-up tutorials and advice on youtube and twitter. As a result of her fame she now has her own make-up brand.
